Business Developer

Full-Time position, Remote

We are looking for a Business Developer to join our team in providing B2B technology to enable the unbanked to access essential products and services. We develop payments and lending management software technologies that allow us to provide life-changing services like solar energy access to hundreds of thousands of people and we hope to do a lot more with an extra person on board!  As a Business Developer, you will play a key role in Solaris Offgrid's ability to surpass our growth goals and expand our social impact.

We are expanding our technologies to partners (in over 35 developing countries up to date), and expect to impact millions of people over the next 3 years, across the Globe.

You'll work within an energetic and forward-thinking team, operating within a company that prioritises independence, initiative, and individual development. As a Business Developer, you'll leverage your prospecting, analytical, and negotiation skills to acquire new customers. You'll collaborate with companies across Africa to comprehend and assess their needs, offering tailored solutions to enhance digitalization and streamline daily operations. Additionally, you'll interact with key decision-makers from various sectors on a daily basis.

  • Lead Prospect Relationships: Take ownership of direct relationships with prospects, from initial prospecting to invoicing.

  • Networking Events: Represent Solaris Offgrid at networking events, focusing on essential markets such as Microfinance, off-grid energies or clean cooking.

  • Manage Account portfolio expansion following the Company quarterly objectives, to achieve Yearly targeted revenues

  • Stakeholder Education: Educate PaygOps stakeholders on industry practitioners to convert them into prescribers.

  • Sales Engagement: Collaborate proactively to design outbound strategies and respond to sales-related inquiries.

  • Process Design: Co-design processes to ensure they are data-driven and trackable for sales operations

  • Industry Understanding: Develop a deep understanding of the last-mile SaaS market and its stakeholders in the African context through research and networking.


  • Proficiency in CRM systems and marketing automation tools, such as Salesforce, Mailchimp, etc.

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in SaaS platforms like Odoo, Zoho, or equivalent.

  • Previous experience in the Finance for the BoP a plus.

  • Proficient in English; Good notions of French are a plus.

  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding performance objectives, including revenue and pipeline targets.

  • Excellent listening and communication skills, with the abilities to engage, Ask relevant questions and follow up on conversations with potential customers and partners.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to take initiatives and see them through to completion.

  • Ability to exercise effective judgment, curiosity, empathy when conversing with prospects.

  • Demonstrating creativity in response to changing needs and situations, while ensuring technical compliance with PaygOps features.

  • Passionate about social business and enthusiastic about developing world projects.
